Driving in the Channel Islands can be a bit of an automotive culture shock for new arrivals. Navigating the“green lanes” without losing a wing mirror is a major achievement. UK number plates and the labelling of hire cars gives locals an indication that they should be patient and not be overly surprised if the car in front stops at a T junction to check their map.
One of the quirks of island driving is the filter in turn system. It appears obvious to those of us that have learnt to drive here but can cause a bit of confusion for those used to driving in the UK or indeed elsewhere in the world. For those who are moving to the Channel Islands we have put together a short video to give you a demonstration of how it works.
